This document announces the new increased capacity injector incorporating trapped volume spill for industrial QSK19 engines. This will affect engines built for CPL 2008, 2558, and 2009.
Increased Capacity/Trapped Volume Spill Injector
The trapped volume spill portion of the increased capacity injector has been incorporated to correct a fuel dilution of lubricating oil on a small number of QSK19 industrial engines. The trapped volume spill provides a leak path for noninjected fuel in the lower barrel/plunger area to the fuel return drain line. This trapped fuel is under high pressure from the previous injection event, and without this drain path the fuel can escape into the cylinder when the plunger begins its upward movement.
All other functionality and components (o-rings, copper seals, and hold-down clamp) are equivalent to the regular increased capacity injector.
Increased Capacity/Trapped Volume Spill Injector Part Numbers
The increased capacity/trapped volume spill injector implementation will create new CPL numbers for the QSK19 industrial engine. The chart below outlines the changes.

Note : The new injectors are not compatible with other injector part numbers and require a unique electronic control module (ECM) calibration. The increased capacity/trapped volume spill injector must also be used with the compact fuel pump (reference Document 99T6-9). The part numbers for the compact fuel pump are:
